The Tragedy of Clownpheus and EurydIce-Cream

Although unperformed in its entirety due to last-minute COVID problems, there is a video of the first two sections (essentially until God appears) performed in a workshop setting.

A clown, flung into a suspicious space, encounters the most beautiful and irresistible thing known to man: a soft-serve iced cream cone. It is love at first site. After the most euphoric and brainfreeze-filled night of his life, Clownpheus wakes to his beloved iced cream melted. He mourns, he looks for the killer, he curses God, he does CPR - all in vain. Eventually, God appears, and declares that, if he desired, he may venture to Hell to and retrieve his cherished cream. Clownpheus accepts, and journeys through 3 layers of hell, ultimately, coming face to face with the devil with whom he makes a bargain: his soul (in the form of his red nose) for his cream. In the end, he is reunited with his beloved iced cream, but, due to his absence of soul, loses his ability to love it.

This piece was created over the span of a year with Erik Peterson. Performers include Erik Peterson (Clownpheus), Jenna Steinberg (God & Devil), Quinn Spivey (Purgatory Figure), Pierce Abplanalp, Jade Collins, and Magnus Kroken (Hell Clowns). Includes text from Death and the Ploughman, Shakespeare, and the Bible.
